                              Pond Shelter Pavilion

 

Picnic:                  Potluck

Barbeque – bring your own meat to grill if desired (hot coals provided).

Bring a dish to pass.

 

Bring:                   Clothing to get wet with (kayak in), bumpers for your dog(s), towels.

                              Shoes you don’t mind getting a little goose poop on – by the beach.

 

Details:                Chilson Pond is a small lake with an island and an old beach area.

Leslie & Erik Haugen have reserved the Pond Shelter Pavilion for our club meeting.

                              This pavilion is rented for the entire day and is available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm just for us.

                              Leslie & Erik are bringing their 2 kayaks for anyone to try out – 1 dog will fit with you in the kayak.

                              The Pavilion - Paved Shelter Surface, Group Grill, 8 Picnic Tables, Water Supply on Site, Restrooms are Attached,

Shelter has its own Volleyball Court and Horseshoe Pit, Swing Set, Sidewalk From Parking Lot to Shelter, and a sort of secluded pathway to the lake.

There is a generous parking area very close to the Pavilion.

The beach is not used by people usually, and is not a groomed beach, but used mostly by geese, there is small island and lots of lily pads.

It has been confirmed with the park DNR that we can “train” (swim) our dogs off leash on the beach area.

We will be able to bring the kayaks right up to the beach.

 

Fun:                      Try out kayaking with your dog – be prepared to get wet

                              Take your dog for a swim, do a little water training with your dog and with others of a like mind, Hike

                              Visit with “chessie” people, Have some food, Have a club meeting

 

Comments:         Dogs should NOT be allowed to run loose and unsupervised at any time, and should be on a 6ft leash if not being trained.

                              This is a State public area and there will be other people and potentially other dogs, consideration to others is mandatory.

                              It will be August – please take special notice of the weather conditions and dogs in vehicles

                              There is plenty of room to set up a few crates under the pavilion or in the grassy/shady areas near the pavilion.

                              Pick up after yourself and your dogs (poop) -   Leave the area as you found it.


                              Guests and family are always welcome!
