Board Meeting - April 7, 2012

A Board meeting will be held on 4-7-2012 at Oscar & Joey's Roadhouse in Birch Run (map & info). Time will be 12:00 noon.. We currently have a reservation for 12. If you are not a Board member, but plan on attending, please contact the Club by 4-3-12 at cbrs@micbrc.org and let us know, so that we can have enough seating. Please put 'Board Meeting RSVP' in the subject line.

Annual Meeting 2012 Overview

The club once again held it's Annual Meeting at Walli's in Burton. It was a good time of socializing & catching up on the events of the past year. Besides the required annual reports, there was once again a reporting on New Titles earned by members Chesapeakes and a nice Memorial Remembrance of our dear Chessie's lost in years past. The winner of the Second Annual MCBRC Duck Tournament - John Theut, was announced.

Three new Board members were welcomed; Tom DeRiemaker, Rick Rusz, & Deb Rhodes. Officers for the coming year are: President - Dorene Irish, Vice President - Michelle Keehn, Secretary - Tina Cox, Treasurer - Cindy Franklin.

Members once again came through with very nice donations for the raffle & door prizes. Robin Short was this years big winner of the Visa Door Prize. Thanks to all who contributed to this event.

Canine First Aid Seminar Report

The Club hosted a Canine First Aid seminar on February 4, 2012; presented by Sarah Shull DVM. Sarah did an exceptional presentation and had one of her dogs there so she could demonstrate things such as a good ear wrap, where to find a pulse, heartbeat and many other things. She provided those who attended with handout of the presentation and a list of items for a first aid kit as well as a medication chart. we had 12 attendees, 10 members and 2 guests. A light lunch was provided and we had a raffle afterward. It was a great event!

Reproduction Seminar Report in Brief

Reproduction Seminar held on 2-5-2011

Dr. Malinak presented a power point covering everything from what to look for when picking your foundation animal, heat cycles – regular and abnormal. Sperm quality, it’s abnormalities and treatments. Testicular & prostate conditions and treatments. Reproductive abnormalities of both males and females including tumors, cysts and infections. The importance and timing of brucellosis testing. The timing of a breeding using a combination of progesterone, LH testing & cytology. The various options in artificial insemination procedures and much more were discussed. There was also a Q & A portion.

All in all, we had a good turnout with 9 club members and 17 non-members attending. I received good feedback and everyone seemed pleased with the information provided.

Michigan Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club Reproduction Seminar

Presented by Dr. William Schultz DVM

Dr. Schultz will be covering breeding from start of heat through various forms of insemination. Some of the topics included will be progesterone timing, semen analysis, and testicular health of the male along with much more. Seminar will include video/slide show and an hour of question and answer.

The Seminar will be held on February 5, 2011.
